Tom Hirst Joins Origin's Engineering Team

I’m delighted to announce that Tom Hirst has joined the Origin engineering team as a senior front-end developer.

Tom likes to help others learn through sharing his experience, with open source projects, a book on pricing technical work, and an NFT project that teaches its holders how to build their own.

Not surprisingly, we noticed Tom via his open-source contributions - in particular, his NFT Solidity DApp starter and NFT minting starter repositories on GitHub. We started an impromptu conversation with him to find out if he would be interested in exploring joining our team.

It turns out Tom values work-life autonomy, freedom to explore ideas, and opportunities to learn new things from smart people, making joining up with Origin the perfect match.

We were thrilled when Tom agreed to join forces with Origin. We have been impressed at how Tom hit the ground running and naturally took ownership of the development of the OUSD governance portal which will go live as part of the upcoming OGV launch.

Prior to joining Origin, Tom was a freelancer in the WordPress space since 2009 and made the move to web3 in 2021 after investing in NFTs. Here are a few of his favorite pieces: MAYC, BAKC, 0n1 Force.

Entrepreneurial from a young age, Tom was a successful Pokémon card trader! He is a self-taught programmer in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and more recently, Solidity. Back in the day, he mastered HTML through building Geocities websites and CSS by styling MySpace profiles.

Tom lives with his wife and 2 kids in Wakefield (near Leeds), UK, and likes taking long walks in the Yorkshire countryside with his dog.

Please join me in welcoming Tom to the Origin engineering team!
